Cool interview! Liked the emphasis on the importance of commitment, setting aside a block of time every day, and just how crucial the marketing is. That pro-bono idea was great too.

Liked how you mentioned all the book references, though I haven’t got quite as much out of some of them as you did (eg Tony Schwartz & Dan Kennedy are great reads, but they haven’t pushed my business ahead yet).

I didn’t like some of Chris’ tactics though. I thought asking people who were already fitness models to act as proof of his techniques seemed dishonest, particularly when he says his methods weren’t working for himself at that time (ie 30-40 pounds overweight). Made me wonder if marketing was taking precedence over product/service quality, and if freedom was prioritized over personal integrity. But maybe I misunderstood.

Do you know how Chris was able to find his trainers? Did he have problems with any of them leaving to start their own businesses, or with clients who insisted on having a particular trainer?

Clay, great stuff. Chris is living the life I want to live. He has a great business model. I’ll be making a file of all of the interviews and putting thme on my MP3 player. I like to call interviews like this “Reality Motivation”. It’s real time stuff, not the same old, tired stuff that you hear from the “motivation gurus”.

I’m looking forward to the new direction you’re going in. Listening to inspiring stories from those who have made it… and details about how they did it is quite informative.

Chris was the second person this week who recommended Dan Kennedy… so I’m seriously contemplating buying a course of his.

Are you familiar with Kennedy? If so any particular book or course you would recommend?
